Frequently asked questions
Not at all! These classes are designed for home cooks of every level. Whether you’ve never baked bread before or you cook often, I’ll guide you step by step, with plenty of time for questions along the way. But these classes are for more than just cooking, this is an immersive look into what it feels like to be in a Palestinian (or any similar Levantine) kitchen: the rhythm, the conversation, the culture that surrounds the food. Whether you cook along or simply join to absorb and connect, you’ll be part of the experience.
Each class runs about 2 hours. We cook together in real time, with space built in for discussion and Q&A and tasting at the end!
With the exception of the Stuffed Vegetables & Rolling week, all the dishes we’ll be making happen to be vegetarian. I’ll also share easy substitutions for vegan diets or allergies where possible.
My goal is for these classes to feel like you’ve stepped into a real kitchen, not a lecture hall. With a small group, I can answer questions, share the small tips and stories that never make it into recipes, and make sure everyone feels seen and included. The cap helps keep the experience personal and engaging.
Yes! About a week before each class, you’ll receive a PDF packet with everything you need — recipes, ingredient and equipment lists, and a few notes to help you prepare if you’ll be cooking along.
My grandmother made the most delicious food out of the simplest kitchen, so you’ll be just fine with the basics too. Each week, I’ll send an equipment list in advance with substitutions if needed. Expect the essentials — pots, pans, baking sheets, a sharp knife, a cutting board, and mixing bowls. If I’ll be using something like a mixer or food processor, I’ll always suggest an easy alternative.
You’re more than welcome to have friends or family cooking alongside you in your own kitchen. But if someone wants to join from another screen or location , they’ll need to purchase a separate class/package. Names are checked against registration before being admitted into Zoom. This keeps the experience manageable and fair for everyone.
You’ll still receive the full recipe packet and a recording of the class so you can follow along later at your own pace. You can also email me up to four times after the session, and I’ll respond within 24 hours to help guide you in your cooking.
You’ll still get the full set of recipes and recordings for all sessions, even if you can’t attend live. You’ll also have the option to transfer your spot for that week to someone else (just try to let me know at least 24 hours in advance so I can update the registration list).
If you miss class, you’ll still receive the recipe packet and a recording of the session so you can follow along at your own pace and you will be able to email me up to four times after the session, and I’ll respond within 24 hours to help guide you in your cooking! Alternatively, if there are future sessions available that work, I will do my best to accommodate you in the one of your choice.
Bookings are non-refundable, but they’re transferable up to 24 hours in advance. Just reach out directly so I can update the registration list with the new name.
Absolutely — these classes make a wonderful gift! When you purchase, you’ll have the option to mark it as a gift and include the recipient’s name. I’ll then send you a personalized gift certificate with their name and joining instructions, and make sure they’re added to the registration list.
